Shearling + ribbon sculptural piece
This is a wearable shearling sculpture. Functionally between a vest and a dickey, this special piece can be worn over a winter outfit for extra warmth, or to add a twist to a more formal look. It can be worn with the ties on the right side, or reversed with the ties on the left.
This piece is made from two sheepskin hides and black ribbon. The black ribbon ties are stitched on by hand to reduce the number of punctures in the hide. The hides are cut by hand using a razor blade, please expect “imperfections” along cut edges, which are caused by the varying thickness of the hide. All of the shearling is reclaimed, sourced from a nonprofit whose mission is to reduce textile waste and keep deadstock fabrics and leathers out of landfills.
Like a dickey, this piece is sizeless. The head opening is roughly 9-10” in diameter. The piece is irregularly shaped but measures roughly 11” in length and 14” in width.
Designed, cut, and sewn by Lorna Dielentheis in Burlington, VT.
